Hello my beer friends,
Have you heard about the German beer purity law of 1516...??..
No?!..
Ok, let me educate ya'll...
Is this law just a German fairy tail, a marketing tool or another one of many German laws...??
I'll start from the beginning...
The German "beer purity law" (Reinheitsgebot) was issued by the Bavarian Duke Wilhelm IV and Ludwig X on April 23th, 1516 in Ingolstadt (50 miles north of Munich, where Audi cars are produced). There are only 3 ingredients that are allowed to be used in the production of beer: water, barley and hops. (The existence of yeast had yet not been discovered.)
The two main reasons for this law are...
1.) To protect the health of beer consumers by only using pure ingredients...
Hundreds of years ago water was polluted, so only drinking water was allowed in the beer making process, and some of the ingredients (mushrooms and roots) used to flavor beer turned out to be toxic.
2.) To reserve grain for baking during the famine.
The German beer law is the world’s oldest food and beverage standard, and still is up to date. There have been some changes...
- yeast is now allowed as an ingredient
- you can sell beer with different ingredients as long as you don't label it as beer
Beer companies are using the phrase "gebraut nach dem deutschen Reinheitsgebot" (brewed according to the purity law) to label their beer as a marketing tool, especially internationally...and it works!

In Germany you are not allowed to brew beer with rice or corn...but a lot of mass produced beer in the world are produced with such ingredients. Budweiser and Corona among others are brewed with these ingredients and are not considered beer in Germany.
In a time where all of our nutrient filled good are made from gmo's and other modified products and food made from toxic ingredients you can trust German beer because it is pure, with no artificial flavors or additives.
So let's put everything together...the three most important ingredients you need to survive are barley, hops and water... With this being said you should know that German beer is the purest, most natural, most flavorful and refreshing drink on the face of the planet. There should be a law against mixing beautiful, pure, and clean beer with different flavors with shit like pumpkin and blueberry.
Now don't get me wrong, we do mix beer too... but most of the time you use the pure beer and mix it on your own. Like banana wheat beer or beer and soda but I will go into that in one of my future blogs.
So...If you haven't had a German beer yet....you are definitely missing out on something spectacular ...what are you waiting for???!...go and get yourself one!!...the real taste of beer!!!...pure beer!!!....German beer!!!...PROST!
